Enterprise SaaS Hunter
When I’m dialing, my favorite response is, “Sorry, you’re with who again?” It means the bar is mine to set. They don’t know the company, so they don’t know the product. If getting in the door is the hardest part of sales, then be the first one through. Introduce something new, and earn the conversation with research, relevance, and results. That’s why I’d rather build the brand than stand behind it. The edge of technology is where I like to work.
Outside of work, life is simpler. You’ll usually find me with my wife of 12 years, in a landscaping battle with my neighbor Bill, wearing out my huskies (and Mr. Frank), or finding new ways to automate the boring parts of life. This site is one example; it was built with curiosity rather than coding experience. That said, it is real code. I used Claude Cowork AI to turn plain-English prompts and iterations into what you’re looking at now.

Prospecting Starts Too Late
Suspecting is the research layer before outreach: the part where I find the reason a conversation should exist before I ever pick up the phone.
Identify the target company.
Research the organization and its executives.
Speak with former employees.
Uncover firsthand operational context.
Convert that insight into relevant executive outreach.
If every AE is making dozens of calls hoping for one real conversation, they should be as prepared as possible before picking up the phone. That’s why I start before the call. I call it Suspecting. I suspect before I prospect.
With apps like 6sense, Apollo, and ZoomInfo, any tech-savvy AE can find the right contact, the incumbent, and recent company headlines. But if every AE is doing that now, how is it any different from the traditional value-proposition intro?
Suspecting goes beyond the tech stack. I talk to people with firsthand insight into the prospect: former employees. They know in great detail what’s working and, more importantly, what isn’t. I’m transparent about why I’m reaching out, direct about the favor I’m asking, and careful not to waste their time. Most people appreciate the creative approach and are willing to help.
That firsthand insight changes the conversation. Unlike most, I’m not just referencing yesterday’s press release. I’m showing that I put in the work before asking for their time.
And it sets meetings. Sometimes, because the approach earns respect. More often, because the insight is accurate, the problem is real, and the value proposition lands where it should.
Prospecting generates activity. Suspecting generates meetings. I’ve been successfully suspecting for over a decade.
